Maintains and operates heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigerant systems; troubleshoots and repairs electronic and pneumatic control systems; repairs hot water, chill water, and steam systems to include boilers, chillers, pumps, motors, valves and other auxiliary equipment; performs preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment; utilizes test equipment to include volt/amp/ohms meter and temperature pressure gauges; utilizes appropriate hand and power tools for repair and installation of equipment; uses University vehicle to travel between work sites; moves items weighing up to 50 lbs.; climbs ladders to access work areas; works in closed areas of extreme hot or cold temperatures; distinguishes color coded wiring; reads blueprints and schematics to determine location, size, capacity and types of components needed to repair equipment and/or systems; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.
High school diploma or equivalent and four years experience in the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, possession of Refrigerant Transition and Recovery certification (Level I and II), and possession of a valid driver's license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama.
