Essential Functions:
Evaluates patients in a clinical setting to include periodic health maintenance examinations and treating minor illnesses under the direction of an attending physician using applicable medical equipment; takes medical histories and performs physical examinations; orders and/or performs diagnostic and therapeutic regimens as determined by patient’s need with the concurrence of the attending physician; instructs and educates patients with regard to their particular condition and/or provides referrals to counseling programs, social services, community agencies or specialists; interacts by phone, letter, or in person with physicians, staff, community hospitals' staff, insurance companies, health care providers, residents and students; confers regularly with project director, staff physicians, Health Services staff and other personnel to consult and/or refer patients, plan and coordinate activities, exchange information and resolve problems; provides clinical instruction to nursing and healthcare staff; maintains accurate patient records using an electronic health record system; documents all aspects of patient care and completes paperwork for billing and administrative purposes in a timely manner; assists patients on and off exam table and in and out of wheelchairs; complies with HIPAA regulations; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, completion of an approved nurse practitioner training program, certification as an Adult Primary Care or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner and licensure with the state of Alabama as a nurse practitioner and registered nurse. Related clinical experience and excellent computer skills are highly preferred.
Working Days and Hours:
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 3:00 p.m - 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
*Position is PRN (as needed) during the above hours.
