          Job Description:

          Job responsibilities include:


          • Develop solutions to monitor, notify, and correct anomalies/alarms. Work closely with vendors or other groups within the organization to correct problems or perform root cause analysis.

          • Ensure that applications are installed, properly configured, and operating as-expected on production, development, or lab systems running on SUN Solaris and Redhat Linux environments.

          • Configure COTS applications and databases to support customer requirements.

          • Analyze and make formal recommendations on optimization and capacity planning for systems.

          • Design, develop, and maintain process automation scripts and utilities written in UNIX Shell and Perl languages. Work closely with database, UNIX, Windows, and Linux network system administrators; data/telecommunication analysts; outside vendors; and application programmers in engineering solutions or resolving problems.

          • Write test plans and conduct product evaluations in a lab environments.

          • Ensure the day-to-day operation and ongoing support of Enterprise Network Management applications including event, fault, and performance management systems

          BASIC/REQUIRED SKILLS:
          - Solid understanding of data and telecommunication technologies and networking fundamentals.
          - Working knowledge of database management, security and data access technologies
          - Experience providing technical project leadership
          - Advanced knowledge of SNMP/RMON based monitoring solutions such as CA Spectrum, eHealth/LiveHealth, nGenius Performance Manager and/or other similar NMS tools.
          - Experience with UNIX and/or LINUX
          - Ability to produce and maintain Perl programs or shell scripts in a UNIX environment for automation
          - Understanding and working knowledge of Quality of Service (QOS) and Service Level Management (SLM/ITIL) concepts, and how to convert these concepts into real-life NMS solutions
          - Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills for effective interaction with customers and co-workers.

          EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
          Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience. Additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.

          Security clearance a must!
