In addition, this position will connect the project scope into product design parameters in order to execute complex design projects while ensuring that performance and quality targets are met during launch. This will be accomplished by adhering to regulatory requirements, the innovation process, the APQP launch process, the new product development process and the engineering change process. Engineering documents such as BOMs, drawings, product specifications, and product literature will be closely maintained. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:Create and implement new product designs and product modifications for commercial vehicles.Lead a cross-functional team through the new product development process to assure that internal and external customer requirements are met.Maintain a strong focus on quality, cost, and overall customer value.Exhibit project leadership skills with designers, sustaining engineers, and other key team members to assure that engineering documents are adequate for a successful launch.Serve as key communication point to assure that open issues related to design, manufacturing and product validation are closed in a timely fashion for release.Actively participate with manufacturing and operations in early builds to assure that key specifications for successful assembly are included in the design.Act as a key point of feedback for engineering processes and standards to assure that world class warranty levels are achieved.Support product managers and sales personnel for customer specification reviews and pilot inspections of new products. JOB SPECIFICATIONS:Bachelor of Science in Mechanical engineering, or related degree.7+ years of engineering experience in the mechanical engineering disciplines in a heavy manufacturing environment by employing DFMA (Design For Manufacturing and Assembly).Minimum of 2+ years of experience using Pro-E and / or SolidWorks is required.A Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering, experience performing simulation analysis (i.e. FEA) of materials / structures, experience working with hydraulic / electro-mechanical components or experience in the Mining Equipment / Heavy Construction Equipment Industries would be given special consideration.Product Development experience from the Mining Equipment, Heavy Construction Equipment or other related industries will be given special consideration.Experience in the design and application of Robotics, Advanced Hydraulics, and Controls Systems is heavily desired.Have a proven track record of employing a product development process and project management skills to lead a cross-functional team in the execution and launch of design changes.Exhibit strong problem solving skills and employ a process such as 6-Sigma or another structured method to solve complex problems.Demonstrate work experience requiring multi-tasking capabilities in a "fast paced" work environment.Must be self-starter, fast paced, but still highly detailed and accurate. Must exhibit project management capabilities such as being goal oriented while being able to identify high priority, critical path tasks.Maintain the highest ethical and work standards by insuring that all that all activities with both internal and external customers are performed with a professional demeanor.Results oriented focus with a high level of accountability.Willing to travel up to 15% and maintain a flexible work schedule during critical stages of development projects in order to achieve results.
